The Suit Designed for Mikaël Kingsbury’s Next Chapter

Behind every victory are years of consistency, discipline, and precision. For Mikaël Kingsbury, that mindset has shaped an entire career. Today, it continues to guide him into a new phase of life.

This project was never simply about creating a suit. It was about designing a piece capable of accompanying a transition.

Created with his future speaking engagements, public appearances, and post-career life in mind, the suit needed to carry a certain presence while remaining true to his personal style. A more mature, timeless, and natural approach. Something that genuinely felt like him.

A Surprise Built Around his Story

A Surprise Built Around his Story

The project was developed discreetly with the help of his mother, Julie, and his partner, Laurence.

To create something deeply personal, around sixty photographs were gathered without his knowledge. These images were then used to design the jacket’s inner lining. The collage features milestones from his career, medals, trophies, family memories, and photos of him throughout different stages of his life, from adolescence to adulthood.

Among them is an especially meaningful detail: a drawing of the Olympic rings made by Mikaël Kingsbury when he was a child.

A subtle reminder of the journey between childhood dreams and everything he has accomplished since.

More than a visual detail, the lining almost acts as a personal archive woven directly into the garment itself.

Observing Before Creating

Observing Before Creating

Even the fitting process had to be carefully orchestrated.

Under the pretense of coming in to try on a shirt, Mikaël Kingsbury was invited to the boutique so the team could update his measurements while naturally observing his preferences.

As he explored fabrics and moved through the Laval showroom, every reaction became valuable information. A colour that caught his attention. A texture he appreciated. A silhouette he naturally gravitated toward.

His mother and partner also played a role throughout the process, quietly sharing observations with Richard Valeriani, stylist and director of the Laval boutique, helping guide the decisions without ever revealing the surprise.

All of these details ultimately helped shape a wardrobe designed specifically for the next stage of his journey.

The project extended far beyond the suit itself.

The goal was clear: allow Mikaël Kingsbury to step confidently into his post-career life while naturally evolving his personal image.

The approach behind the silhouettes was intentionally more timeless. Less restrictive, less driven by fleeting trends. Crafted from a dark green 100% wool fabric, the jacket reflected a colour that already held an important place in his personal preferences.

Quickly, however, the shade took on another meaning.

With golf now becoming a growing part of his life, the green became a natural nod to this new chapter. A subtle way of connecting the world he came from with the one he is now building through conferences, events, and personal projects.

A Silhouette Adapted to a New Reality

Several adjustments were also made to modernize his silhouette while preserving enough timelessness for the garments to evolve with him over the years.

The proportions were refined to create more fluidity and a more natural presence. Shirt collars were slightly widened. The jacket itself was designed with a more classic balance to avoid anything overly fitted or visually aggressive.

The objective was never to completely transform his image, but rather to create a wardrobe capable of working just as naturally during a conference as it would in more relaxed moments of everyday life.

The Details that Make all the Difference

During the official unveiling held at a private event at MYO Club, one moment in particular stood out to the team.

The Details

Precision

The final look

Before the event, I shared a few simple tips with him on how to wear the jacket more naturally: adjusting the sleeve, repositioning the collar at the neck, and letting the silhouette move more freely with the body.
Subtle details, but the kind that completely change the way a garment comes to life on someone.

Richard - Manager

Laval

Having spent his entire career surrounded by experts capable of refining every aspect of performance, Mikaël Kingsbury quickly embraced these recommendations naturally.

Later that evening, from across the room, the director of the Laval boutique noticed those same gestures already becoming instinctive for him, almost as if the garment had already become part of who he was.

That is one of the roles of made-to-measure clothing: creating garments that do not seek to transform someone, but rather accompany who they are becoming.
