The introduction of gloves is a natural extension of Surmesur’s coat offering. As coats take on a greater role in our clients’ wardrobes, the idea was to offer an accessory that could complement them with the same level of quality and personalization. After all, when you take the time to choose the fabric, cut and colour of a coat, why stop there?

Gloves can bring an entire look together down to the smallest details. Depending on the coat you choose, they can echo some of its tones or create a subtle contrast. The goal isn’t necessarily to match everything perfectly, but rather to think of each piece as part of a cohesive whole.

A Glove Tailored to Your Hand

As with a made-to-measure garment, it all starts with the fit. During an appointment, different sample gloves help determine your preferred level of comfort. Your palm and finger length are then measured to create proportions tailored to your hand.

Personalization, however, goes beyond choosing a size. Finger length can be adjusted independently from the overall glove size—an important distinction from standard sizing, which doesn’t always account for differences in hand proportions. The result is a glove designed to better follow the shape of your hand rather than simply conform to a predetermined size.

Personalized Inside and Out

Once your measurements are taken, the personalization begins. Several styles are available for both men and women, along with a wide selection of leather colours, giving you the option to stay with classic, versatile tones or choose something more distinctive.

The interior can also be tailored to your preferred level of comfort. Several lining materials are available, including wool, cashmere, silk and rabbit fur, allowing you to choose based on the warmth you’re looking for, the feel of the material or simply your personal preference. Various finishing details are also available, including the option of contrasting stitching.

In other words, two people can start with the same glove style and end up with completely different results.

From the selection of the leather to the stitching and finishing touches, each pair requires a level of precision that can be seen in its appearance and felt in the way it fits the hand.
