T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers won his first Defensive Player of the Year honour, being named the NFL’s defensive MVP for 2021.

Watt gave a speech thanking the Steelers organization and talking about his dedication moving forward after receiving the award from his brother J.J.

“I grew up coming to this award show, I think I’ve been here five or six times, I never came home with hardware,” Watt said. “But every time I left more motivated than the time I got here. And I promise this only motivates me more.”

T.J. Watt became the only player in history to lead the NFL in sacks in two seasons in a row as he did so in the 2020 season with 15.

Defensive Player Of The Year or Best Dressed Of The Year?!

TJ Watt was looking really sharp when he got on stage to receive his award. Wearing a striking made-to-measure Surmesur green suit with a black dress shirt and a black tie, he gave an emotional speech after being given the award by his older brother.

Our team of stylists at Surmesur Pittsburgh was thrilled to meet this exceptional athlete and work with him on his championship style! After all, when you’re the DPOY, you have to be dressed for the occasion!

Defensive Player of the Year: Steelers LB T.J. Watt

Watt tied for the most sacks in a single season in the NFL, with 22.5, as he led the league for the second year in a row. Michael Strahan set the previous record of 22.5 sacks with the Giants in the 2001 season.

T.J. Watt became the eighth Steeler to be voted DPOY, the most of any franchise. He is the first Pittsburgh player to win it since safety Troy Polamalu in 2011.

Don’t think like father, like son. When it comes to becoming a defensive standout on the field in the Watt household, it’s like brother, like brother.

That was reinforced at the 2022 NFL Honours in the lead-up to Super Bowl 56. J.J. Watt, a three-time Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year, presented younger brother T.J. with the award for the 2021 season. It was T.J.’s first DPOY.
